Software Updates

As devices, operating systems and software date, manufacturers replace them with newer versions and stop supporting the older versions.

This leaves the device or operating system vulnerable, as no new security fixes are made available. Whilst many people will purchase a new device, update to new software or move to the new operating system (known as migrating), those that don’t will be more vulnerable to cyber attacks.

Manufacturers will inform you in good time when they are about to stop providing support, but you should regularly check their website to see whether your device, operating system or software is still supported and receiving the latest security updates.
